Motorcyclist critically injured in Warwick crash

WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) — An investigation is underway into a crash that critically injured a motorcyclist in Warwick Wednesday evening.
Officers who were called to West Shore Road near Moccasin Drive found the motorcyclist lying the roadway suffering from upper body and facial injuries, according to police.
Police said the motorcyclist, identified as a 21-year-old Warwick man, was wearing a helmet.
Investigators believe a 61-year-old woman was turning left onto Moccassin Drive when the oncoming motorcyclist crashed into the passenger's side of her car.
Both the motorcyclist and the driver were brought to the hospital for treatment. The motorcyclist remains in critical condition, according to police, while the driver is in stable condition.
The exact cause of the crash is unknown, though police said alcohol does not appear to be a factor. No charges are pending at this time.
