UPDATE: Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. (LEX 18) According to Kentucky State Police, the individual who shot two officers in Bowling Green during a mental health crisis Wednesday morning was shot and killed during the incident. Two Bowling Green Police officers responded to the call about an individual having a mental health crisis, KSP reports. That individual became combative, attempting to disarm an officer and gaining control of a weapon, firing in the director of the two. One of the officers discharged their firearm, striking the individual, who sustained life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead on scene. Both officers have now been released from the hospital, and the incident remains under investigation. The center treats patients with serious mental illnesses, its website says.No other information on the shooting was immediately available. The Kentucky State Police are investigating. A message seeking comment from state police was not immediately returned.Ward told WKBO that the officers are going to recover.
