EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) - Incumbent Carrie Hamblen, a Democrat, is the apparent winner against Samantha R. Barncastle Salopek, a Republican, in the New Mexico State senator race in District 38 for the Doña Ana County, according to unofficial results released early Wednesday morning, Nov. 6. Hamblen led with 51 percent or 8,465 votes, leaving Barncastle Salopek with 49 percent or 8,276 votes. Other results for Doña Ana County races included the following, according to unofficial results: State senator in District 36 Democrat and incumbent Jeff Steinborn is the apparent winner against Republican David H. Tofsted with 56 percent or 10,975 votes, leaving Tofsted with 44 percent or 8,719. State rep. in District 32 Republican and incumbent Jenifer M. Jones is the apparent winner against Democrat Linda S. Alvarez with 61 percent or 6,025 votes, leaving Alvarez with 39 percent or 3,797 votes. State rep. in District 34 Democrat and incumbent Raymundo Lara is the apparent winner against Republican Larry M. Sedillo with 58 percent or 5,006 votes, leaving Sedillo with 42 percent or 3,692 votes. State rep. in District 36 Democrat and incumbent Nathan P. Small is the apparent winner against Republican Kimberly A. Skaggs with 52 percent or 7,259 votes, leaving Skaggs with 48 percent or 6,792 votes.
