METAIRIE, La. (BRPROUD) — It's evident a new era of Saints football is well underway. First, the team fired head coach Dennis Allen on Monday. Then, on Tuesday, New Orleans traded away arguably their best cornerback in franchise history, Marshon Lattimore. None of this comes to a surprise because change is needed, considering the team has lost seven straight games for the first time since 1999. It's something the players echoed. Interim head coach Darren Rizzi emphasized things needing to change during his first press conference on Monday. His first practice on Wednesday as interim head coach reflected that.  "We made some changes on the daily schedule, made some changes on the practice schedule," said Rizzi. "And so, you got to make sure that we've been doing things around here the same way, or at least similar for a long time. And I thought it was important to maybe just get a little change of pace." Report: New Orleans Saints trade Marshon Lattimore to Washington Commanders "Whatever it is, the feeling of the building, the feeling, the energy, the schedule, whatever, you have to start doing stuff differently," said Saints quarterback Derek Carr. "He (Rizzi) said, look, we got to do something different, and we all have to buy into that, and we bought into it. When that happens, just in my experience, that usually is a good thing." The changes at practice were clear Wednesday. The offense and defense practiced on opposite sides of the field than they typically have. Rizzi also rearranged the locker room, having players sit with their position groups. He said his team has to get comfortable with being uncomfortable.
