BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- Kern County will have a chance to show its spirit of giving on Nov. 13 for the annual Holiday Food Drive. KGET and the Community Action Partnership of Kern are hosting a food drive to collect food for families in need during the Thanksgiving holiday. Sam Lynn Ballpark, home of minor league baseball for decades, about to get a much-needed makeover Volunteers will be out at Compassion Corner -- 22nd and L streets outside the KGET studios -- collected canned and non-perishable foods on Wednesday, Nov. 13 from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. And this year, the event includes a lunchtime BBQ fundraiser from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. For $15 you can drive up and purchase a deep-pit sandwich, a bag of chips and a drink. If you can't make it on Nov. 13, you can text FEED KERN to 50155 to make a donation. Last year, the drive collected more than 8,500 pounds of food and CAPK hopes to surpass that by collecting 26,000 pounds of food to help ensure families in Kern County can celebrate the holiday.
