Dialysis clinic closing in Mt. Morris
Nov 06, 2024
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A Mount Morris dialysis clinic is set to close after years of funding losses.
The Wyoming County Community Health System announced the closure of its Murray Hill Drive dialysis clinic Wednesday. The six-chair clinic opened in the Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in 2022.
According to WCCHS, the site's impending closure is due to staffing and financial issues. The organization said the clinic lost more than $2 million in funding from the county since 2022.
“Operating a small dialysis clinic in a rural location has proven to be extremely challenging," CEO David Kobis said in a statement issued Wednesday. "Finding and retaining sufficient qualified staff to ensure safe patient care is our most critical priority. To compound matters the reimbursement for the clinic is not sufficient to cover operating costs."
Kobis said WCCHS would help all current patients find alternative treatment locations. A closure plan has been submitted to the New York State Department of Health.
