HANFORD, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - A woman who had warrants for her arrest stole a vehicle in Hanford and led police on a short chase Tuesday, according to the Hanford Police Department. Officers say on Tuesday, at around 9:30 a.m., they responded to a carjacking in the area of 11th Avenue and Hanford Armona Road. The victim told officers that they were getting into their vehicle when a 30-year-old woman stopped them and then drove off in it. The suspect then tried to get away from the police but ended up abandoning the vehicle and fleeing on foot. Officers named the suspect as 30-year-old Alexis Burton, who was on felony probation from Stanislaus County and had three active warrants for her arrest from Merced County, Kings County and Fresno County. Burton was booked into Kings County Jail on suspicion of carjacking and resisting an officer.
