A small shop in California’s Central Valley sold a Mega Millions ticket worth more than $1.2 million, the California Lottery announced Wednesday. The ticket, purchased at Lake Liquor in Woodlake, matched five numbers in Tuesday night’s drawing, winning $1,214,818. The winning numbers were 2, 24, 25, 52, 58, and 9. The store, located in Tulare County, will receive a bonus of over $6,000 for selling the lucky ticket, officials said. While no one hit the Mega Millions jackpot, which has now grown to an estimated $334 million for Friday’s drawing, more than 114,000 tickets in California won prizes across nine tiers. Mega Millions tickets cost $2, with about 80 cents of each ticket sold in California going toward public education. The odds of winning the Mega Millions jackpot are about 1 in 302.6 million. According to USA Mega, which tracks Mega Millions statistics, the most common Mega Millions numbers drawn are 10, 3, 17, 14, and 46, with the most common Mega Ball number being 11. Mega Millions is played in 45 states and the District of Columbia, with drawings held every Tuesday and Friday at 8 p.m. In September, a $2 million Mega Millions ticket was sold at an ARCO station in Cathedral City in Riverside County. Late last month, a Powerball ticket sold at a Chevron station in Lake Elsinore just missed the $437 million jackpot, matching all five numbers but missing the Powerball. The ticket holder still walked away with a $250,000 prize.
