From Wednesday night through Friday, this storm will bring heavy snowfall to New Mexico. The largest impacts will be in northeast New Mexico. 35"+ of snow is expected in certain locations across the northeast. Strong wind gusts will also play a role in this storm. 30-40 mph wind gusts in northeast New Mexico will assist in worsening conditions and forming snow drifts. Road closures and power outages from the storm are expected. The snow will begin later tonight and last through Friday night.
Central New Mexico is also expecting snow over the next few days. Though, thankfully, not as much as the northeast. This snowfall will likely start tonight and last through the night/ early morning on Friday. All precipitation should clear from central New Mexico by Friday evening. They will remain dry through the weekend.
There is a bit of uncertainty surrounding the amount of snowfall the Albuquerque metro will see over the next few days. This is because of the Albuquerque snowhole. The strong wind gusts expected over the next few days could make it difficult for storms to form over Albuquerque. The current forecast has Albuquerque seeing anywhere from Trace to 4-inches of snow.
New Mexico will dry out on Saturday.
