St. Tammany Parish crash leaves pedestrian dead

ST. TAMMANY PARISH, La. (WGNO) — Troopers with the Louisiana State Police are investigating a crash that left a Denham Springs pedestrian dead in St. Tammany Parish on Wednesday, Nov. 6.
The LSP reported that the crash happened on U.S. Highway 190 near Park Place Drive around 2:30 a.m.

LSP officials said an initial investigation shows that 38-year-old Jonathan Janise went into the eastbound lanes of U.S. Highway 190 from the median while a Peterbilt 389 was driving east.
The Peterbilt 389 then reportedly hit Janise in the center lane.
Janise suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Peterbilt 389 was uninjured.
According to the LSP, "impairment is not suspected on the part of the Peterbilt driver, who provided a breath sample of 0.000g%."
The investigation is ongoing, and routine toxicology samples were collected.
