Ramelli, in Metairie, and Glass Half Full, in Marrero, will be collecting the following materials over the next 12 to 16 weeks:
Glass bottles and jars (no mirrors or broken glass, ceramics, pottery, etc.)
Cardboard
Aluminum/tin/steel cans
Plastics #1 (soda/water bottles) and #2 (milk/juice/shampoo/detergent containers)
Mixed paper
The Jefferson Parish Department of Environmental Affairs should be contacted by those with questions about any other materials.
Parish officials ask that recycling items not be bagged, as plastic bags can clog recycling machines. They also ask that recyclables be somewhat clean. Metals and plastic food containers should be given a rinsed, and things like greasy pizza boxes or take-out containers should go in the garbage to help avoid contamination and mold.
