Teen accused in robbery spree may be charged as adult

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A teenager who is among a group of children charged in four armed robberies, a shooting and a chase in a stolen car last week could be charged as an an adult.
District Attorney Steve Mulroy said Wednesday his office has filed a notice of intent seeking a transfer to adult court for one of the five juveniles caught after a police chase, though it was not clear which one.
Police said a group of juveniles — a 12-year-old girl, a 13-year-old girl, a 14-year-old girl and 14-year-old boy, and a 16-year-old boy — stole a car from the parking lot of East High late Friday night.
Between 10:23 p.m. and midnight, the group was linked to four robberies and one shooting, mostly in the Normal Station and Midtown areas.

Police spotted the car at Poplar and Cooper and chased it to the 500 block of Prescott. The young suspects were taken into custody after they bailed out of the car and were tracked by a helicopter.
A male juvenile in the case appeared in court Monday for a detention hearing. He was detained after an assistant DA established probably cause.
