MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Election stress got you down? Well, you're not alone.
Wednesday, a Post-Election Restoration and Processing Station opened its doors in Memphis, with multiple organizations offering a safe space for reflection and renewal.
“Mental health has been a struggle in our community for a very long time," said participant Tieranee Wilson. "I think that it’s important to offer spaces like this so that we all can come together as a collective to just be, rest, and heal.”
In Uptown Memphis, several organizations including Black Voters Matter, Justice & Safety Alliance and Stand for Children, joined forces to host this post-election restoration station, providing what many would say is a much-needed break from the intense election season.
It featured various activities designed to promote relaxation. Organizers like Tikeila Rucker, political director for Memphis-For-All, emphasize this is a community-driven event welcoming anyone seeking peace of mind.

“So today in the space, we’re gonna have some movement restored of yoga practices, guided writing techniques, art supplies, so people can express themselves creatively in that manner. We have a masseuse that’s gonna come in and provide some release tension and some parts of their body," Rucker said.
Tiffany Rubin, a Memphis psychiatric mental health practitioner, acknowledged the importance for mental rejuvenation.
“I don’t think that will be proper thing for someone to just say ‘Oh it’s just an election, move past that,’" Rubin said. "No. Meditating, going back to positive thoughts in spite of if your candidate made it or not, you’re going to be fine and you’re going to move forward.“
The Post-Election Restoration and Processing Station is happening Wednesday at BRIDGES - USA, in Uptown until 7 pm.
