CDPHE sends reminders for annual flu vaccine to parents
Nov 06, 2024
(COLORADO) — The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) will be sending reminders to parents and guardians if their child is due for their annual flu vaccine.
Starting Wednesday, Nov. 6, CDPHE will send texts and emails to parents and guardians of more than 238,000 Colorado children between the ages of six months through five years old whose records in the Colorado Immunization Information System show they may be due for their annual flu vaccine.
A text message will come from the number 457778 and will inform parents or guardians that their child is due for their vaccine. An email will also be sent with information about where to find a local vaccine appointment.
The flu can be dangerous for children as they are at a higher risk of complications that can lead to pneumonia, dehydration, sinus problems, and in rare cases even death.
Individuals can contact their healthcare provider, a local public health agency, or a local pharmacy to make a vaccine. To find low and no-cost vaccine providers, individuals can visit fluvaxcolorado.org.
If your child/children have received their annual flu vaccine, you can update their record in the Colorado Immunization Information System through this form.
Most health insurers cover the full cost of the flu vaccine, for more information on where to find the vaccine click the link above.
