Betting line The Bills are 4.5 point road favorites on FanDuel SportsBook as of Wednesday morning. Bills-Colts history The Bills haven't won in Indianapolis since 1998, when the Colts were still in the AFC East. Doug Flutie outplayed rookie Peyton Manning that day and Antowain Smith scored two fourth-quarter touchdowns in the Bills' 31-24 win. The Colts have won six straight home games against the Bills. The Bills' most recent win against the Colts was in the 2020 Wild Card Round. What should I know about the Colts? Shane Steichen's Colts have been a difficult team to figure out this season after an upstart 9-8 campaign in his first year as a head coach. Indy has gritted through inconsistent quarterback play and poor defense this year and remains in the wild card hunt at 4-5. Quarterback Anthony Richardson, drafted fourth overall in 2023 for his immense physical tools despite limited experience, had been benched for Joe Flacco. The veteran provided a spark earlier this year when Richardson was injured, but fell flat last week in a loss to the Vikings. The Colts have talented pass catchers in Michael Pittman, Josh Downs and Alec Pierce and a dynamic running back in Jonathan Taylor, but they've struggled to put it all together for consistent stretches. The Colts defense ranks 29th in yards allowed per game and 31st in rushing yards against, though their per-play ranks are slightly better. They have been efficient at creating turnovers, as their 15 takeaways are tied with the Bills for fourth in the NFL, but the Colts offense has given the ball away 13 times compared to just four times for the Bills. The Colts are 3-1 at home, but their schedule looks like they've beaten some beatable teams (Bears, Titans, Dolphins, plus a good win against the Steelers) and lost to most quality opponents (Texans twice, Packers, Vikings, plus a bad loss to the Jaguars in Trevor Lawrence's best game of the season). The Colts haven't topped 20 points in any of their last four games; the Bills have only been held under 20 points once this season. The Bills are favored on paper, but you could argue it has the potential to become a trap game given what's ahead. Next game It's the big AFC showdown: Chiefs at Bills, 4:25 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 17. After that, the bye week.
