BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- 17 News Political reporter Jenny Huh gave a breakdown of Bakersfield City Council races, Congressional District 20 and Assembly District 32 preliminary results. Larry Koman leads the race in the Bakersfield City Council Ward 5 race. Koman has a total of 6,197 votes and has a 372 votes leads over Mike Madrigal ( 5,825) and Kevin Oliver (2,539). Tal Eslick describes the Central Valley’s changing voting demographics In the Ward 6 race, Republican candidate Zachary Bashirtash has earned 37% of the vote, 4,077 votes total, and leads by 606. Incumbent Vince Fong is set to replace Kevin McCarthy's seat in Congress. Fong has a wide lead over Mike Boudreaux. According to preliminary vote count, Fong has 119,720 votes, compared to Boudreaux's 63,490. Fong leads over Boudreaux by 56,230 votes. Watch the full breakdown in the video player above.
