Veterans Day 2024: Ceremonies around Monroe County

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Veterans Day is coming up — and many municipalities in Monroe County have ceremonies planned to honor local veterans.
Here is a list of Veterans Day ceremonies planned in Monroe County:
November 6
St. Joseph's Field of Honor
St. Joseph School in Penfield will place over 150 miniature flags bought by the community around the school, with proceeds going to the Veterans Outreach Center.
In addition, a ceremony will be held by the Boy Scouts, Penfield Town Supervisor Jeff Leehouts, and US Marine Sgt. Chad DiBiase.
The ceremony will kick off at 10 a.m. at the school.

RIT Veterans Breakfast
RIT will be serving over 350 veterans at its 13th annual Veterans Day Breakfast. The highlights of the breakfast include a presentation of colors, an Armed Forces Salute, and a ceremony for POW and MIA soldiers.
The breakfast will be held from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.
Veterans Day Lunch
The Town of Penfield will invite local veterans to its community center to share stories from their time in the service. These will include members of Braman Post 1229 of the American Legion.
The lunch will begin at 12 p.m.
November 9
Town of Chili
The Town of Chili will be hosting a breakfast and a line of honor at the Chili Community Center.
The breakfast is available for veterans and their guests only and pre-registration is required. Those interested in the line of honor must contact Chili Rec by Wednesday by calling (585)-889-4680 or emailing [email protected].
The breakfast will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. The line of honor will start at 10 a.m.
Monroe County's Veterans Day Parade
This year's parade is set to kick off at the corner of South Goodman Street and Highland Avenue. The route will take the parade to the Greater Rochester Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Gary Beikirch Park.
The grand master of the parade is the "Vietnam Veteran" as members of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 20 will be on a float.
The parade will begin at 10:30 a.m. and will be LIVE STREAMED on RochesterFirst.com
November 11
Town of Gates
Gates-Chili Middle School is inviting the community and its veterans to honor the service and sacrifice of local veterans.
Students will be reading essays to recognize the service of these veterans during the ceremony. A reception will follow the event by the Gates Garden Club.
The service will be held at 10:30 a.m. in the middle school's auditorium.
Town of Irondequoit
The Irondequoit American Legion Post #134 will host a ceremony to honor local veterans at the Town Hall Campus Flagpole.
The ceremony is scheduled to begin promptly at 11 a.m. All members of the community are invited.
Town of Pittsford
The Pittsford community will be honoring veterans of the American Legion Rayson-Miller Post 889. This ceremony will take place at the Veterans Monument in Carpenter Park at the Port of Pittsford.
The ceremony begins at 11 a.m. and will end at 12 p.m.
Town of Brighton
The Town of Brighton will be honoring veterans at the Brighton Veterans Memorial in Buckland Park. The ceremony will recognize the David J. Kauffman Post 41 of the Jewish War Veterans.
The ceremony will take place at 2:00 p.m. All are welcome to attend.
