Dear Annie: I read your column and the letter from “Estranged” about her sister, and I can relate. A few years ago, I chose to completely cut ties with my older sister after years of watching her harm herself with drugs and alcohol, and causing pain to her children and our parents. My parents and I took care of her kids when she was on the streets, and she verbally and physically abused my mother. She drained my parents' savings, and her behavior contributed to my father’s death. Even after he passed, she continued to exploit my mother until her final days.
