Dine 909: Philz Coffee opens first Inland Empire location
Nov 06, 2024
Look out, Dutch Bros. Beware, Starbucks. Watch your back, The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf.
Philz Coffee has landed in the Inland Empire.
The Oakland-based chain with locations elsewhere in the state (and Chicagoland) opened its first Inland Empire spot last month in Victoria Gardens in Rancho Cucamonga.
A soon-to-open location was spotted in Claremont by fellow columnist David Allen.
The Rancho Cucamonga location can be found at 12448 North Mainstreet, adjacent to the center’s food hall.
Hours are 6 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday, 6 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 6 a.m.-9 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
The Claremont location is at 330 W. Bonita Ave., in the former home of Video Paradiso.
Brewery changes
Big changes are happening at another Inland Empire brewery.
Strum Brewing Co. in downtown Ontario has new owners.
Strum is hosting a Going Away/Welcome Home party from 7 p.m.-midnight Saturday, Nov. 16.
The event will give customers a chance to say goodbye to the old owners and hello to the new ones.
Prior to that, the brewery will host a karaoke party to celebrate the 10th birthday of Nugget — the brewery’s cat — from 7-11 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8.
Strum is at 315 N. Euclid Ave.
New in Ontario
Fishbone Seafood has returned to Ontario.
The new location is at 1520 N. Mountain Ave., Suite A-101.
A grand opening celebration is slated for 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7.

Taco Tuesday deal
Back in September, we spotted a Taco Tuesday deal in El Pollo Loco’s app.
That deal is now available to everyone and there’s a bonus for the chain’s rewards members.
On Tuesdays, guests can get any two tacos — shredded chicken crunchy taco, chicken avocado taco or chicken taco al carbon — for just $5.
