Thanksgiving poor boy, a feast fight to cure cancer
Nov 06, 2024
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — It's that time of the year.
To gather together for what is now a seven-year November classic.
A Thanksgiving feast packed into one New Orleans sandwich.
It's a poor boy (poboy).
And WGNO Good Morning New Orleans features reporter Bill Wood finds it on the menu at Parkway Bakery and Tavern.
If a New Orleans fifth grader were President?
As you can imagine, the lunch line gets long for this once-a-year meal.
"This thing has roasted turkey, homemade stuffing, a rich gravy, creamy, sweet cranberry sauce, all rolled into one sandwich," said head chef Justin Kennedy.
You can skip the line and help the Al Copeland Foundation fight cancer.
"We are friends, we're New Orleanians. We share the bond of food, festivals, and fun and the bond of raising money for cancer," said Al Copeland Jr.
His dad, Al Copeland Sr., the inventor of Popeyes, died of cancer in 2008. Now the foundation has raised more than $5.3 million to come up with a cure.
What is your go to Fall favorite New Orleans classic meal?
