FRANKFORT, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Two constitutional amendments were on the ballot in Kentucky, with voters giving a split verdict on Election Day. Amendment One, which proposed preventing non-U.S. citizens from voting in Kentucky, passed with 62% of voters in favor and 38% opposed. This amendment adds language to the state constitution limiting voting rights to U.S. citizens. However, Amendment Two, which would have allowed state tax dollars to fund institutions outside of the public school system, was defeated. Voters opposed the measure with 65% voting “no” compared to 35% in favor. Governor Andy Beshear took to social media to comment on Amendment Two’s outcome, stating, “Thank you for protecting our public schools, Kentucky.” Categories: Election News, Election Results, Featured, GMK, Local News, News Tags: amendment 1, amendment 2, Citizen’s, Education, election news, local news, News, school vouchers, Voting
