GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — A proposed sales and tax increase in Guilford County was rejected by voters on Election Day.
The proposed increase was rejected with 59.8% of voters electing to reject the increase. A total of 158,621 people voted no.

The measure would have increased sales tax in Guilford County from 6.75% to 7% and would not have applied to prescriptions, gas or groceries.
The funds from that tax increase would have been used to raise the pay of Guilford County Schools employees.
