Nov 06, 2024
HOUSTON (KIAH) — To combat the negative health and environmental consequences of carbon emissions from diesel trucks operating in and around the Houston area, the Port of Houston has been awarded a $3 million grant through the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Clean Ports Program.
The SHIFT (Shipping Houston Industry, Freight and Technology) program is designed to reduce diesel emissions by working with the community.
The project will be funded by the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, which is not only working to reduce carbon emissions, but is also working to create new green job opportunities for the Houston community.
