Taft residents ordered to shelter in place after chemical leak

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- Taft residents are being asked to stay indoors after a potentially harmful chemical leak prompted CHP to close South Lake Rd. Wednesday morning, according to the Kern County Fire Department.
The Genasys app reported the shelter in place order for Kern zone 271-D, just east of Taft.

According to KCFD, hazardous material response team has been dispatched to Taft Manufacturing facility to check on a potentially harmful vapor cloud.
Taft residents are asked to go indoors and shut and lock all windows immediately. Residents should prepare to self-sustain until further notice.
