AUSTIN (KXAN) -- After a beautiful and cold morning, we have a clear Wednesday ahead. The day itself is expected to come and go with temperatures remaining in the upper 70s. This is a big difference from the 90s we were enduring last week. Around the corner, though, is plenty of showers and possible storms to end the week. Cold morning in Austin Wet weather late week Another area of low pressure digging out west will bring scattered rounds of showers and storms to us tomorrow and Friday. Both days will feature on and off rain and storm chances. Although it will not rain every hour, there will be periods of wet weather until a cold front slides in late Friday. Front approaching this week A low (1 out of 5) severe weather risk is in place for Thursday and Friday with damaging winds and large hail being our primary concerns. There is also a low risk for localized flash flooding. Thursday's severe risk: 1 out of 5 Friday's severe risk: 1 out of 5 Drier weather settles in this weekend with temperatures in the 70s. Tracking the Tropics Rafael remains a hurricane this morning as it heads toward Cuba. Current expectations are that a shift west and then north will keep this storm away from Central Texas. The storm is now expected to become a major hurricane. Still, this storm is worth watching as there's a high level of uncertainty regarding the track this weekend.
