Escobar wins 4th term in U.S. House with big win

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) -- U.S. Rep. Veronica Escobar is headed to a fourth term in the U.S. House of Representatives after final unofficial voting totals were released at about 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 6.
Escobar, D-Texas, has 131,144 votes or 59.43 percent to be the apparent winner in Texas Congressional District 16.
Republican challenger Irene Armendariz Jackson finished with 89,146 votes or 40.40 percent.
This is the third consecutive election they have faced off.
D. "DMB" Montanez is running as a declared write-in candidate. He has 376 votes or 0.17 percent.
Escobar was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2018 and has gone on to leadership roles within her party. She serves as a co-chair for Kamala Harris' presidential campaign, a position she also held under President Joe Biden.
Escobar's district consists of virtually all of El Paso, except for part of Fort Bliss and part of far East El Paso.
Before being elected to Congress, Escobar served as an El Paso County commissioner and then as county judge.
