With 94% precincts reporting in Georgia, Trump won with 2.6 million votes (50.8%) given him a total of 16 electoral votes, and Vice President Kamala Harris fell behind with 2.5 million votes (48.4%).As of 1:30 a.m., the 2024 presidential race is remarkably close with Donald Trump leading with 247 electoral votes and Harris following closely behind with 214. The winner must collect a total of 270 votes to win.The presidency is still too close to call however, some may say, to quote Beyonce, “America has a problem,” and others are rejoicing Trump may be in office for a second time.Currently, Harris has won Vermont, Hawaii, California, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Virginia, Washington, Oregon, Connecticut, Washington D.C., Maryland, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, and Illinois.Meanwhile, Trump took over North Dakota, South Dakota, North Carolina, Wyoming, Louisiana, Missouri, Ohio, Texas, Indiana, Florida, Tennessee, Alabama, Oklahoma, Kentucky, West Virginia, Kansas, Iowa, Idaho, North and South Carolina, and sadly, Georgia.Photo by Isaiah Singleton/The Atlanta VoiceAmerica is still awaiting results on five swing states including Arizona, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. Other states include Alaska and three districts in Maine. Harris still has a chance for the White House through the northern battleground states, but she cannot lose Pennsylvania and reach 270 electoral votes.Although people are calling this a Republican win, the race is not over.
