WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) - KSN News is Your Local Election Headquarters and has the preliminary unofficial results of the races for the two seats on the Sedgwick County Commission. Incumbent Democratic candidate Sarah Lopez has lost her seat to Republican Jeff Blubaugh, a former Wichita City Council member, District 2, which covers southwest parts of Wichita, Clearwater and Haysville. "If we lose, I had a great career before this, and I'll have a great career after this. I'll get to spend a little more time home with my kids, and that is not a bad thing, so it'll be ok," Lopez said. "The resounding message I have heard from most constituents is they just want to be heard. They want to have somebody that they can call, that'll reach out to them, and help them address their needs," Blubaugh said. 2024 Kansas General Election: Live results In District 3, Republican Stephanie Wise has defeated Democrat Celeste Racette. David Dennis will leave the commission when his current term ends in a few months. District 3 covers west Wichita, Goddard, Garden Plain, Cheney, Colwich, Andale, Mount Hope, Bentley and Viola. KSN sent Blubaugh, Lopez, Racette and Wise questions about issues including property tax relief, affordable housing, mental health, and homelessness.
