Nov 05, 2024
TRENTON — City Council races are looking like three of the four open seats will remain the same with the South Ward unable to be called yet.
East and North Wards were uncontested races, and will remain in the hands of Joe Harrison and Jennifer Williams respectively.
Teska Frisby has a significant lead over Mary Horne with Mercer County reporting 100% of the vote reporting. Frisby leads 3,074 to 1,038.
The South Ward is the city’s most contested race and is currently too close to know who will take the race.
Incumbent Jenna Figueroa Kettenburg is facing off against Damian Malave, who she narrowly defeated last election.
With all precincts reporting, Figueroa Kettenburg and Malave are heading to another run-off. a two-vote lead for Figueroa-Ketteburg with 973 votes to Malave’s 971 votes, and challenger Evangeline Ugorji with 137 votes.
With less than 50% of the vote for both of the top two candidates, 46.71% to 46.62%, Trenton requires the contest to be decided by a run-off election between the top two vote-getters.
These results are still unofficial and will be updated as the county releases more information.
