NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – Alongside electing the president, New Mexicans are also voting for the representation of the 2nd Congressional District (CD). Before the election, Democrat Gabe Vasquez was representing the 2nd CD, which covers the southern half of New Mexico. Vasquez is facing off with Republican Yvette Herrell. Herrell is vying to reclaim her seat in Congress after losing to Vasquez in a close race in 2022. Her team is carefully watching the results, and the former congresswoman was there on Tuesday afternoon. She's 'cautiously optimistic.'
