SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) – Incumbent Dusty Johnson will serve another two years as South Dakota's U.S. House Representative. The Associated Press called the race shortly after 10 p.m., but Dusty declared himself the winner in a victory speech at 9:30 p.m. State Wide Results | State Senate Results | State House Results | National Results Map Dusty holds a 76% (72,278) to 24% lead of the vote with 29% of precincts reporting as of 10:19 p.m., according to the Secretary of State’s website.  "You have given me an opportunity for the next two years to be a part of that work, to be a part of that progress. The work we have to do is pretty important," he said during his acceptance speech. "We have to secure the border, we have to increase freedom, we have to reduce inflation, we have to reduce crime, we have to reduce spending, we have to reduce regulation.” His opponent, Sheryl Johnson, has received 20% (6,912) of the votes. She gave a speech shortly after 10 p.m. where she thanked supported, but had not conceded yet. "I just want everyone here to remember that losing an election doesn't mean you fail, you only fail when you quit and give up and the South Dakota Democrats are never giving up the challenges in South Dakota," she said during her speech. "The hopes we share and the dreams we have for our state don't vanish just because of a single election." Only 201 out of the 691 precincts have reported. Dusty is celebrating at the Holiday Inn in Sioux Falls with other Republican leaders including Sioux Falls Mayor Paul TenHaken and U.S. Sen. John Thune. This is the incumbent's first time in three election cycles with a major party challenger. During that time, he’s voted 81 times to secure the border and voted against $12 trillion in spending.  "I just want to remind all of us as we move away from campaign season and as we move back toward governing, let's never forget that this country was not built on anger and fear," Dusty said. "This country was built on courage and imagination and optimism and freedom. That is the most potent recipe in the history of state craft."
