Representative Andy Barr made remarks in Lexington following a projected victory for House District 6, which represents the city and surrounding suburbs in central Kentucky. The Associated Press called the race for Barr with around 80 percent of the vote reported. He won against Democrat Randy Cravens. It’ll be his seventh consecutive term after being elected to the House in 2012. Barr made remarks during a GOP election night event at the Marriott Lexington Griffin Gate hotel. “Tonight’s margin of victory, a margin of victory that could not have happened without a lot of split tickets in our favor, is a credit to my incredible team who work for all of our constituents, regardless of party affiliation or whether they vote for us or not,” Barr said. After his remarks, Barr said he would support policies that support free-market competition. “Let’s unleash the free market, capitalist system once again in this country. Let’s roll back burdensome, costly regulations that stifle innovation, entrepreneurship and new business formation in this country,” Barr said. During his remarks, Barr called for a stronger southern border and more domestic energy production. He also blamed Democrats for inflation, citing overspending and overregulation.
