Alford, Cleaver, Graves win Missouri's 4th, 5th, 6th Congressional Districts

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Three incumbents are going to keep their seats in Missouri's 4th, 5th and 6th Congressional Districts in the 2024 General Election.
Missouri 4th
The Associated Press has declared U.S. Rep. Mark Alford (R-4) the winner of Missouri's 4th Congressional District. This will be his second term in Congress.
Alford was a TV news anchor at FOX4 who has served on the House Armed Services Committee, House Agriculture Committee and House Small Business Committee. His opponent, Jeanette Cass, worked 30 years with the United States Postal Service.
Missouri 5th
U.S. Rep. Emanuel Cleaver II (D-5) has been declared the winner of Missouri Congressional District 5 for the 11th election season. He beat Republican Sean Smith, a District 6 Jackson County Legislator.
Cleaver is a member of the House Committee on Financial Services, chairing a subcommittee for housing, community development and insurance. He’s also a member of the House Committee on Homeland Security.
Prior to serving in Congress, Cleaver II served 12 years on the Kansas City Council between 1979 and 1991 before he was elected as the city’s first African American mayor, holding that office between 1991-1999.
Smith, Cleaver's opponent, has served as a chairman on the committee overseeing Jackson County's 911 operations and was the first Republican to announce a bid against Cleaver back in 2023. He was elected to the Jackson County Legislature in 2022.
Missouri 6th
The Associated Press called the race for Missouri's 6th District representative, declaring U.S. Rep. Sam Graves (R-6) as the winner.
Rep. Graves is looking to serve his 13th term in the 6th Congressional District and beat out Democrat Pam Ray in the 2024 general election.
Graves is the Ranking Member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, and also serves on the House Committee on Armed Services.
Prior to serving in Congress, he was elected to both the Missouri State House and Senate in the 1990’s.
This was May's first time running for any office. She's lived in various part of the district, including Clay and Platte County and currently lives in St. Joseph. She's a graduate of Northwest Missouri State University.
