All 46 Senate seats up for grabs in South Carolina

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– While many are focused on the presidential election, there are several local races up for grabs across the state, even right here in the Midlands.
ABC Columbia’s Alex Tejada is at Tin Roof in the Vista with the South Carolina Republican Party where they have gathered to watch all the result returns.
When it comes to the State House, the Republican Party will hope to make some gains.
One of those gains they hope to make is in Senate District 26, after it was newly re-drawn, Democratic Senator Nikki Sessler decided to retire another long term, and
Senator Dick Harpootlian, lost in the Democratic Primary to Representative Russell Ott in his bid to represent the newly drawn district.
Now, Representative Russell Ott who currently represents House District 93, will face off against Republican Jason Guerry for the Senate seat.
Jason Guerry won the Republican nomination in June.
Both candidates stopped by our ABC Columbia studio earlier in their campaigns to talk about why they are the best man to serve a district that now includes Richland, Lexington and parts of Calhoun counties.
Alex Tejada will be on his ‘X’ page giving us an update on the local elections.
