BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) -- Voters in Louisiana voted "yes" for one constitutional amendment on the Nov. 5 ballot. The amendment read: “Do you support an amendment to require that federal revenues received by the state generated from Outer Continental Shelf alternative or renewable energy production be deposited into the Coastal Protection and Restoration Fund?” Seventy-three percent, or 1,367,790 of the votes, were for the amendment, according to complete but unofficial results on the Louisiana Secretary of State's website. According to PAR Louisiana, a vote for the amendment would dedicate federal money the state gets from alternative energy production offshore to the Coastal Protection and Restoration Fund. A vote against would allow federal funding the state gets from alternative energy production offshore to flow to the state general fund. Nationwide, voters picked the next president of the United States. Across the state, voters decided on a proposed constitutional amendment and representation in the U.S. Congress. According to the Louisiana Secretary of State’s office, 22 parishes had local races and propositions; 22 had local races but no propositions; 15 had state and presidential elections only; and five had local propositions but not local races. Any runoff elections will be held on Saturday, Dec. 7.  Early voting for that election will be from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 22-30, excluding Sunday, Nov. 24, Thursday, Nov. 28, and Friday, Nov. 29.
