Election 2024: West Baton Rouge Parish voters keep Port Allen mayor, Brusly police chief

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — West Baton Rouge Parish voters elected several council members in Port Allen, Addis and Brusly. Also, according to complete but unofficial results on the Louisiana Secretary of State's website, the mayor of Port Allen and Brusly police chief, both incumbents, will keep their seats.
Port Allen Mayor Terecita Pollard Pattan, an Independent, won 55% of the vote. Challenger Clyde Robertson Sr., a Democrat, drew 45% of the 2,472 votes cast. A third candidate, Lance Joseph, was disqualified earlier in the campaign season.
In the Brusly police chief race, incumbent Jonathan Jules Lefeaux won 67% of the 1,009 votes cast. Phillip LaBauve got 33%. Both are No Party.
A narrow margin determined the race between two Democrats for Port Allen council member at large. Adrain W. Joseph won with 1,199 votes, and incumbent Clerice “Clo” Lacy drew 1,189.
In the Port Allen council race for District 1, incumbent Charlene Gordon won 62% of the support, and Rhonda “Razzberry” Franklin got 38% of the 717 votes cast. Both are Democrats.
Gregory Payne, Democrat, won 53% of the 634 votes cast in the Port Allen District II council race. Incumbent Hugh “Hootie” Riviere, No Party, got 47%.
Incumbent Garry L. Hubble, a Republican, won 61% of the support in the District III council race in Port Allen. Elliot “Woody” Dogan, a Democrat, had 39% of the 617 total votes cast.
Nine people were running for the five positions on the Addis town council. The five with the most votes will take the seats. The results were:
Bliss Kelley Bernard, No Party, incumbent: 1,398 votes (13%).
Dustin Hebert, Republican: 1,265 (11%).
Rhonda LeBlanc Kelley, Independent, incumbent: 1,337 (12%).
Kevin J. LeBlanc, Independent, incumbent: 1,354 (12%).
Ray T. LeJeune Sr., No Party, incumbent: 1,189 (11%).
Sumer Maney, Democrat: 967 (9%).
Kim T. Panepinto, Republican: 1,156 (10%).
Russell “Rusty” Parrish, Democrat, incumbent: 1,656 (15%).
Justin Robertson, No Party: 753 (7%).
Six were in the race for the five Brusly council seats. The five with the most votes will take the seats. The results were:
“Mike” Chustz, Republican: 1,120 votes (20%).
“Rusty” Daigle, Republican, incumbent: 986 (18%).
Michael Hebert, Republican: 811 (15%).
Christopher “Fish” Kershaw, No Party: 864 (15%).
Blake Tassin, Republican, incumbent: 952 (17%).
Sheri Neisler Young, Republican: 846 (15%).
There are five races in which candidates won by being the only qualifier.
Two mayors will keep their seats, David H. Toups, No Party, will remain the mayor of Addis and Scot Rhodes, Republican, will again be the mayor of Brusly.
Donovan V. Mitchell, No Party, will be the police chief in Port Allen after incumbent Corey I. Hicks, Democrat, withdrew from the race.

Jason "Possum" Langlois, No Party, will keep his job as the police chief in Addis.
April L. King, Democrat, will be the council member for District IV in Port Allen after Shelton A. Berry, Independent, was disqualified, according to the Louisiana Secretary of State's website.
Nationwide, voters cast ballots for the next president of the United States. Across the state, voters decided on a proposed constitutional amendment and representation in the U.S. Congress.
According to the Louisiana Secretary of State’s office, 22 parishes had local races and propositions; 22 had local races but no propositions; 15 had state and presidential elections only; and five had local propositions but not local races.
Any runoff elections will be held on Saturday, Dec. 7. Early voting for that election will be from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 22-30, excluding Sunday, Nov. 24, Thursday, Nov. 28, and Friday, Nov. 29.
