Voters re-elected Republican Richard Regovich and elected GOP candidate Morris Beverage III commissioners during the Nov. 5 General Election. According to unofficial final results from the Lake County Elections Board, Regovich received 67,015 votes, defeating Democratic candidate Adam Dudziak, who netted 48,947, while Beverage received 67,965 votes to Democratic candidate Jean Sency’s 47,134. Richard Regovich (BDK Photography) Regovich was first elected to the position in 2022. Beverage defeated two-term incumbent John Hamercheck in the March primary. “I am humbled and grateful that Lake County voters have again supported me to be their commissioner, and I look forward to continuing my work for them,” Regovich said, adding safety and economic and workforce development remain key goals. “I will (also) continue to work with all school districts to give students job-ready skills,” he emphasized. “I will keep Lake County moving forward and make it the best place to work, live and play in Ohio.” Beverage noted that he’s proud of the efforts of so many over the last three and a half years during his campaigns. “I’m humbled by the honor Lake County voters have blessed me with to serve them,” he said. “I appreciate Jean and salute her professionalism, and I am so excited to get to work making a positive impact here in Lake County.” Morris Beverage III (Submitted) Beverage plans to take a “deep dive” into the county budget, related primarily to the impacts of the Lake County Public Safety Center project. He noted that he would make any cuts possible to make sure the county is as efficient as possible. “With the savings that we find, stretching tax dollars as far as we can, we should be able to fully staff the (Lake County) Sheriff’s Road Patrol (Department) and pay for it out of the county funds,” Beverage emphasized. “I will do all these things in a very open and public manner so citizens feel educated and witness the process, not just informed about the decisions afterward without any input,” he added. “I will also do all of this in a professional, dignified way, so as not to bring shame to the office or my county. “The things I want to accomplish will benefit all of Lake County’s citizens for generations to come,” Beverage asserted. “I will make decisions for the best interest of Lake County, and not to benefit my personal, political agenda.”
