SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Springfield Technical Community College (STCC) will open its doors to the public on Monday, Nov. 18, with an open house focused on in-demand careers in healthcare. Breast cancer screening bill sent to Healey The Allied Health Careers Exploration Night, scheduled from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., invites anyone interested in learning about career opportunities in health to explore the wide range of programs available at STCC. The open house is designed to be a hands-on experience, allowing visitors to interact with state-of-the-art training equipment and observe live demonstrations at STCC’s SIMS Medical Center, a nationally recognized patient simulation facility. Faculty, staff, and current students from the STCC School of Health and Patient Simulation will be available to answer questions, lead tours, and provide insight into various health-related career paths. Christopher Scott, Dean of the School of Health and Patient Simulation, encourages everyone from high school students to current STCC students considering a career change to attend. “We’re opening our doors to anyone interested in exploring our programs and learning about career opportunities in the health field,” said Scott. “This is a terrific opportunity to see if the healthcare field is a good fit.” Visitors will have the chance to explore a variety of STCC's health career programs, including: Dental Assistant Dental Hygiene Diagnostic Medical Sonography Fire Science Foundations of Nursing Health Information Technology Medical Assistant Nursing Occupational Therapy Assistant Physical Therapist Assistant Radiologic Technology Respiratory Care Surgical Technology Additionally, STCC offers courses such as Certified Nursing Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician, Phlebotomy Technician, and Patient Care Technician. These programs are designed to provide students with hands-on training and a strong foundation to enter healthcare roles that are currently in high demand. The open house event comes as tuition-free community college has become accessible for eligible state residents under the MassEducate and MassReconnect programs, which cover the full cost of tuition and fees for qualifying students.
