U.S. Capitol police arrest man with flare gun, smelling of fuel

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WLNE) — A man has been arrested by the U.S. Capitol Police after attempting to enter the Capitol Visitor Center.
According to a Capitol Police social media post, the man stopped smelled like fuel and was carrying a flare gun and a torch.
The Capitol Visitor Center will be closed for the remainder of the day as the Capitol Police investigate.
Our officers just arrested a man who was stopped during our screening process at the Capitol Visitor Center (CVC). The man smelled like fuel, had a torch & a flare gun.
