Ballot measures could affect city, county governments

HONOLULU (KHON2) -- Residents are not only voting for candidates in this election, they will take up serious issues in the form of ballot measures and amendments affecting city, county and state governments.

Kauai County
Among the amendments are five on Kauaiʻs ballot affecting the police commission, cost control commission, the Countyʻs Open Space Fund, Surety bonds and establishing ex-officio positions for youth on boards and commissions.
Hawaii County
Among the amendments are three on Hawaii Countyʻs ballot affecting council vacancies, department head appointments and increasing term length for Cost of Government Commission.
Maui County
Among the amendments are three on Maui Countyʻs ballot affecting the salary commission, board of ethics and board and commission terms.
Honolulu County
Among the amendments are four on Honolulu Countyʻs ballot affecting the climate resiliency fund, emergency management department, ocean safety commission and city council salaries.
