FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - An intoxicated driver who crashed into five other cars in 2020 and had to be revived with two doses of Narcan will spend no more than three years behind bars based on Tuesday's sentencing. On Oct. 17, 2020, Andre Wilson Jr. was behind the wheel of a Camaro that "lost control" while speeding and crashed into five cars at the intersection of Lima and Washington Center roads, according to Allen Superior Court documents. Court documents showed the 36-year-old was treated for his injuries at the hospital, where medics discovered his blood alcohol level was .262%, more than three times the legal limit. He also had fentanyl and methamphetamine in his system, according to court documents, and did admit to having two bottles of wine and two Percocets before driving. One of the victims still had severe nerve damage and pain over two years after the crash, according to court documents, and Wilson was charged in 2022. He pleaded guilty to causing serious injury when operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Because the judge accepted the plea deal at Tuesday's sentencing, charges of criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon and causing injury when driving with a substance in his system were dismissed. Wilson was handed six years in prison with three of those years suspended. He was also given credit for the 58 days he'd already spent in jail as his case wound through the legal system.
