EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) -- For the fifth straight day, the Blue Front Fire near Ruidoso has not grown in size and it is now 75 percent contained, the U.S. Forest Service reported in an update issued Tuesday, Nov. 5.
The fire, which is 9 miles northwest of Ruidoso in the Blue 2 Fire footprint from last summer, remains at 323 acres, the Forest Service said.
"Due to the weather and firefighting efforts there has been no perimeter growth on the Blue Front Fire over a week. Precipitation in the form of snow and rain fell over the fire Sunday and Monday further minimizing any observed fire behavior," the Forest Service said in its update.
The Forest Service said that even though fewer resources are now needed for the fire, they urge people traveling in the area to remain cautious.
