House fire in St. Helena Parish leaves elderly woman dead, LSFM says

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A woman was killed in a house fire in St. Helena Parish on Saturday, officials say.
According to the Louisiana State Fire Marshal's Office, on Saturday, Nov. 2, fire response teams were called to a home on Pat Lane. Upon arrival, firefighters saw a home engulfed in flames.
LSFM said the body of who they believe is an 86-year-old female resident was found in a bedroom. The identity of the woman has not yet been released.
Investigators mentioned the home did not have a working smoke alarm.
