BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The East Feliciana Parish Sheriff's Office is investigating after an inmate died following a stabbing at a correctional facility on Tuesday. According to East Feliciana Parish Sheriff Jeffrey Travis, on Tuesday morning the sheriff's office was notified of a fatal stabbing at the Dixon Correctional Institute. Authorities say the event occurred between inmates and no employees were harmed. One inmate was killed in the altercation, the sheriff's office states. The identity of the victim or what led to the stabbing is unknown at this time. EFPSO detectives are investigating the incident with the help of the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab and DCI criminal investigators. No further information has been released. This is an ongoing investigation.
