Nov 05, 2024
AUSTIN (KXAN) -- The skies have parted and any last minute voters should enjoy a clear sky with temperatures dropping out of the low 70s into the mid 60s this evening.
CENTRAL TEXAS RAINFALL TOTALS
A clear sky overnight with fairly light winds will allow overnight temperatures to drop to their lowest levels since April. We're forecasting lows in Austin into the low 50s with widespread 40s outside of the city.
Wednesday morning lows
Aside from some patchy fog early, Wednesday will be a sunny day with highs in the upper 70s making for a very pleasant middle of the week.
Wednesday's forecast
Another storm to end the week
Another area of low pressure digging out west will bring scattered rounds of rain and storms on Thursday before a cold front brings rain and storms on Friday. Both days will feature on and off rain and storm chances. Rain coverage will be higher on Thursday with the storms on Friday more focused in the Hill Country.
A low, 1 out of 5, severe weather risk is in place for Thursday into early Friday with damaging winds being our primary concern so far.
Severe weather risk on Thursday
Drier weather settles in this weekend with temperatures in the 70s.
Tracking the Tropics
Tropical Storm Rafael formed Monday afternoon and should be a hurricane by Wednesday morning as it nears Cuba. While the storms should move into the Gulf, a front should help steer it east and away from Central Texas.
