WHEN: Wednesday, 11 p.m., Jenny Craig Pavilion, San Diego, Calif.

LAST TIME OUT: Rider lost to UCLA, 85-50; San Diego is playing its opener
SERIES HISTORY: First Meeting
KENPOM RANK: Rider 269; San Diego 292
SCOUTING RIDER: The Broncs were overmatched by the bigger, longer and more athletic UCLA in the season opener, but this should be a more competitive game. Rider got solid performances out of T.J. Weeks Jr. (15 points; 4-of-7 from 3) and backup center Alaaeddine Boutayeb (14 points in 17 minutes), but needs more out of Tariq Ingraham and Jay Alavarez (combined nine points between them). Coach Kevin Baggett used plenty of players — nine logged at least 10 minutes — as he tries to get a feel for his rotations. Andre Young had four points, four assists, three rebounds and two steals in 25 minutes off the bench. It certainly feels like it’s only matter of time until he’s in the starting lineup.
SCOUTING SAN DIEGO: Steve Lavin’s Torreros are coming off an 18-15 season in which they went 7-9 in the West Coast Conference. While this is their season opener, they beat Division II Sonoma State, 73-61, in an exhibition game. Kody Clouet and Keyon Kensie had 17 points each in that contest. Like most teams, San Diego has to replace almost all of its production from last season as it’s top four scorers all transferred. Center Steven Jamerson II is the leading returner at 8.3 points and 8.1 rebounds per game.
