To the Editor:I write to express my appreciation for our Onondaga County election commissioners, Dustin Czarny and Michele Sardo. This election season, stories of things going wrong have circulated widely, but we rarely hear about the hard work that election workers put in to register every eligible voter and make our democracy function.Recently, Onondaga County faced an overwhelming surge of voter registrations, with tens of thousands of new voters and residents updating their registrations. Young people and women registered in extraordinary numbers after Kamala Harris became the Democratic nominee. This enthusiasm is exciting but it also creates a heavy workload for election offices. Czarny and Sardo worked tirelessly — spending long hours away from their families — to process every form and prepare for a smooth election.Thank you, Dustin Czarny and Michele Sardo, for your dedication to our voters and your commitment to ensuring that every voice in our community is heard.It’s reassuring to know that our local officials are doing everything they can to safeguard our elections.Brett Edkins
