PITTSFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - A suspect has been arrested after a police chase ended in a crash in Pittsfield. Three shooting victims in Pittsfield expected to recover According to the Pittsfield Police Department, on Monday at approximately 9:30 a.m., officers performed a motor vehicle stop for civil traffic infractions around West and Edwin Streets. The driver initially stopped but then drove off, hitting one of the officers in the process. The chase continued onto the 200 block of Jason Street, where the suspect lost control of the vehicle and hit a telephone pole. The crash caused the telephone pole to break, a power outage, and a vehicle fire. The suspect ran from the crash on foot and was apprehended a short time later. The suspect was treated for injuries at Baystate Medical Center and was discharged. The suspect was charged with several motor vehicle offenses and Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon-Motor Vehicle. The suspect's name has not been released at this time. The officer who was hit was not injured and was able to return to work. Jason Street was closed for several hours while power was being restored to the area.
