CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- The Chesterfield County Registrar has released a statement regarding scanners jamming some voting precincts across the nation. “Voting throughout Chesterfield continues without interruption today," said Chesterfield County Registrar, Missy Vera. "However, at a handful of precincts, the scanners that are used by election officials to accept the printed ballots are experiencing some jamming issues due to the ink levels of a specific batch of ballots that were printed by a state-affiliated vendor." She also added that the jamming issues have not been slowing down the voting process -- ensuring that the ballots that were not able to be official entered will be secured. "Going forward today, our precincts have been instructed to not use that batch of blank ballots and instead use others that are showing no signs of jamming the scanners," continued Vera. "We do not anticipate this ink issue being a problem and will continue to update the public as necessary.”
