UPDATE: Male who jumped from Veterans Bridge recovered from Taunton River

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — Massachusetts State Police and Fall River police responded Tuesday at 8:35 a.m. to Veterans Memorial Bridge for reports of a stopped vehicle.
The male operator of the vehicle is reported by a motorist to have stepped over the median and jumped off the bridge, according to the Massachusetts State Police and Fall River police.
Fall River police and Massachusetts State Police discovered the male floating in the Taunton River and commandeered a Somerset resident’s boat to attempt to rescue the male.
He was pulled from the river and officials began life-saving measures while transporting him to the Somerset side of the Taunton River.
The male was transported to an area hospital where his condition is unknown at this time.
